Bicycle Inspired Music: Part Two

So a month ago I sneaked in some music under the pretence of being cycling related, well, I’m up to the same shenanigans this month too. This, part is totally electronic in genre and it does seem to be the richest genre for cycling inspired music. It raises the question of why? It might be down to Kraftwerk or that electronic musicians [like Kraftwerk] seem to be into cycling? Hmm, truly no answer.

I’m starting off with a track with possible the weirdest bestest name ever; Penis Slapping Against The Leg Of A Naked Cyclist Drafting, by Twerk. The main reason for sharing is that once this name is in your head you can’t undo the image, it’s horrific! Good track though.

Next up is Lemongrass, who’s output is phenomenal, so if he couldn’t get a bicycle track out then who could? I’ve been a Lemongrass fan for a while and it’s easy to dismiss his music, but before turning to downtempo, he [Roland Voss] was a talented jazz drummer and when you hear his music you should be able to appreciate the structure.

Last is the legendary Boards of Canada. Happy cycling was from their first album in 1998 and it’s one of my all time classic albums. Fact about Boards of Canada, they’re actually from Scotland. They’ve only released three full albums since 1998 and I sit waiting for another. By reckoning should be due very soon…
