I was very fortunate to be involved with this event from the early stages, and to go capture it. The event itself was a series of talks to discuss different aspects of cycling and cycle fit. This was the first event and the first [probably] of it’s kind in Taiwan. Sponsored by Retul, SICI, Bikefit and many more and organised/hosted by Friday Fitness to bring a better understanding of bike fitting and why to choose a bike…
With the talks coming from Taiwanese, Singaporean, American and Canadian cycling experts in their chosen fields, and each speaker gave us a unique view on bicycles and bike fitting and how they each see it.
Vanden Tong explained to the audience [not me as my Chinese is not that good] how and why to use an SRM power meter, while Timothy Lim explained his life as a UCI professional racer in S.E. Asia (and beyond) and bike builder. All but Vanden spoke in English with a translator giving the details in Mandarin, this worked well for me!
After a short break the host of the event Winston Tam, who runs a number of bike fitting studios (Friday Fitness) explained bike fitting in more detail and gave a live bike fitting demonstration, and last but not least Stanley Song gave an excellent presentation on an unconventional way on how to choose a bike. For those unfamiliar with Stanley, he has worked for the likes of Cannondale as an Advanced Project Engineer. His insights are invaluable.
This event is a real eye-opener and it would be great to see more of them (which are in the pipeline), not just here in Taiwan, but globally. So a big thank you to Friday Fitness for hosting this event and good luck on the future events.
