“It’s a matter of survival, survival…is the most important thing.” says Vin Denson in the film above. He should know having ridden in the 560km Bordeaux—Paris himself. On September 12th Rapha will be staging a Bordeaux—Paris 2013 to help raise £250,000 for Ambitious about Autism. A nice idea and as the real race last ran in 1988 it’s a great way to have a go yourself. It’s also 50 years since the Tom Simpson won the Bordeaux—Paris. The challenge is open to 25 teams consisting of four riders and you’ll have 24 hours to complete the distance. It’s designed to be enjoyable so it’s being run in relays with 2 riders from the team riding at a time. Full details and to sign up go here.
If you take part you’ll receive the full kit which includes a Bordeaux-Paris Jersey and Gilet as part of the £975 registration fee. The jersey has been designed with a few Audax specific features namely big pocket to put cakes in and a water resistant pocket to keep your checkpoint card dry. If you’re not taking part you can also buy the jersey for £130 and the gilet for £90.
