Build a Balance bike at the Bicycle Academy

At Bespoked Bristol, Andrew from The Bicycle Academy showed us their new balance bike for children. We thought it was pretty darn cool and wanted it. We couldn’t have it but the good news was that they were launching a course so you could build your very own. Even more good news, they are now taking bookings!

The bike is designed around a 12″ wheel for children aged 2 years plus and as you’ll be building the bike with lightweight tubing it weighs only 3.5kg fully built up. You’ll build the bike from scratch using straight guage seamless steel tubing and learn to braze it all together. Not done that kind of thing before? Doesn’t matter one little bit. You will be taught everything you need to know to build it.

You’ll get to choose the colour of the bike, all components and even customise the stickers too. It’s a cool looking little bike which is built over 2 days. The course costs £400 plus the components you decide to use which range from £30-£100. Book on the TBA website.

It’ll be a fun course and it’s a great place to learn. If the balance bike isn’t for you then take a look at their framebuilding courses. Having spent last week at TBA I really do reccomend it.
