Cycling Buyers Guide Track Pumps, in this guide we look at five track pump options, from the mega expensive to value for money. If you didn’t see our chain tool guide, check it out. A track pump, or floor pump, is something every cyclist should own, like the chain tool it’s a must, and if there was just one tool you should buy, it’s one of these. That said, there are a bewildering amount of options out there. So we’ve put together a small list of great options, no matter the budget – you can’t go wrong with any of these options.
Silca Super Pista Ultimate
Ok, let’s start off with the the stunning and ridiculously expensive Silca. Not many of us can afford such a thing but, if you could, say after winning the lotto, this is for you. The Ultimate is easily the heaviest and most stable floor pump ever made. Though only 5mm thick, and optimised for standing on in every type of cycling shoe imaginable, the SuperPista Ultimate base weighs more than most entire floor pumps and provides the largest, most stable platform available. Seeking precision and accuracy, SILCA has eschewed the traditional +/-5% industrial gauge for a +/-1% laboratory grade gauge, reading 0-160 psi. It was winner of the Interbike 2014 ‘Best in Show’ Award and costs around the £400 mark! Silca Super Pista Ultimate is available here.
