Rapha Chamois Cream

£15.00 available from www.rapha.cc

Rapha are the kings of cycle clothing and the brand image is well designed and highly desired among serious cyclists (at least those with enough money!).

Rapha has gone from strength to strength over the years. As part of it’s latest range, Rapha has opted to go into the skincare market but, this is skincare aimed at the performance cyclist.

Out of the range the most useful product for a cyclist is the chamois cream. The packaging is a thing of beauty. The outer box displaying Rapha’s trademark pink on black. The chamois cream itself is contained in a screw top tin which looks great but, I think is a good choice for use and makes application an easy process and the container can be easily recycled. It also comes with a small well designed leaflet illustrating the Ventoux climb. This Ventoux association is in the fragrance, which is rather nice for a chamois cream!

Application if fine, not too thick, not too thin. Rapha’s cream compares to Assos cream in consistency and therefor pretty good. No problems. The price is also on par with Assos and I think Rapha have done well to keep it at that price point.

Verdict

Application if fine, not too thick, not too thin. Rapha's cream compares to Assos cream in consistency and therefor pretty good. No problems. The price is also on par with Assos and I think Rapha have done well to keep it at that price point. I prefer Rapha's cream because of the smell and tin size. Perfect. Would be amazing if it was under the £10 mark.

I bought some of this recently. Actually didn’t think it was that expensive, by usual Rapha standards anyway. ‘Only’ a couple of quid more than my usual brand so I figured what the heck. Nice packaging, slightly w@nky back story as expected from Rapha, but have to agree, nice stuff. Thinner than my usual choice (Chamois Butt’r) but easy to apply and seems every bit effective. And the faint Radox-esque aroma of pine needles is not unpleasant either. I like.
