It’s been far too long since one of us posted a ride. My main problem is I never remember to take a camera and only carry a cheap phone with no camera whatsoever (I get laughed at for owning such a phone). Actually riding a bike is the most important thing here at Headset Press and were a bit guilty of not saying so enough. BUT every once in a while we get it right.
I didn’t know where to go today, so I thought why not just chuck a pin in the map and go? I did and ended up in some spectacular country. For once bringing a camera just to prove that I do actually live in Taiwan (which many people refute). I won’t bore you to death with the minutiae of the journey – the pictures can do that. The thing I’m trying to tell you is; Get a map, stick a pin in it, go there and see the world. Really there are few excuses. Oh! you say, easy for me to tell you, riding around on a sub-tropical island… Well it rained on my journey, the sun blazed away at ridiculous temperatures and the wind blew against me – any ride anywhere can be a challenge.
This is the beauty of cycling, going places, looking around and the challenge of getting there and back. It’s why I do it and keep doing it. Being out there miles from home in the middle of somewhere just gaping at the scenery. It might not even be beautiful mountains it could be a factory, a field, weird buildings, anything really. Just the fun of exploring on your bicycle. Just got to remember to take the camera a little more often!
