Rumble in the alpine

Ok, it’s not a jungle but it sure was a rumble. Riblon won the rumble, with typical French panache too. Some real stand out riders today, TJ Van Garderen fought hard, Quintana gave it some and am so happy he is now holding a potential podium place. But of all the riders Porte was the daddy. He looked after his captain, perhaps better than Froome did last year and I hope Froome understands the irony of that (not that there is a contention issue between them). Climbing Alpe d’Huez twice for the first time in the Tours history is a bit of evil genius and the crowds were immense. Riding through that sea of people must be a very surreal thing for a rider. Just objects on the road whilst they focus on the task at hand. No other sport offers this for either spectator or participant. More of this tomorrow! Brutal.

Steve, you called it with Quintana the other day. He looks so strong, and has surely cemented a podium. I would not be surprised if he skipped to 2nd. Today is going to be brutal, with 2 HC climbs to start things off. There will surely be a huge Movistar attack, with Saxo Bank throwing in a few also.

I wonder how Froome is feeling today, he looked like a Ghost yesterday. Porte again his saviour.

    enjoy the race today.

Really hoping Quintana can take the second spot, only a little way to go and not looking likely but lets see.
