The Bicycle Academy launch party

If you remember our feature back last year when The Bicycle Academy was just due to start its crowdfunding campaign, the hot news is not only that the money was raised and premises found but the building work and fitting-out is completed with the final step being Saturday’s launch party.

Founder Andrew Denham, along with legendary frame builder Brian Curtis who will be heading up the teaching at Britain’s if not the world’s first crowdfunded bicycle training academy hosted an evening celebration to thank the first 183 inductees who between them raised £41,690 through peoplefund.it thebicycleacademy.org/crowd-funding/
at the end of last year.

Based in heritage industrial premises in Frome, Somerset the Bicycle Academy offers training in traditional frame making techniques as well as the full range of wheelbuilding and mechanical skills that go into building a complete bicycle.
