Tour de France 2015 repeats the cobbles from last year, which is either cruel or brilliant, depending how you see it after the crashes. Yesterday saw some horrific crashes that took out six riders including the very unlucky Cancellara. The initial confusion to why the race had stopped was baffling until we later heard that it was that there were not enough medics available after the carnage of two crashes – fair enough. One of the worst crashes I’ve seen in the Tour for a while. The video is not for the faint hearted.
The end of the race was really good and the fight up the The Mur de Huy, that beast looks steep even on TV, it has top gradients of 25% and Froome and Rodriguez smashed it out for the win, with Rodriguez being the punchier rider on the day. It did however put Froome in the Yellow Jersey. Long way to carry that all the way to Paris, he would do well to let it go and stay close on the GC leaderboard, chances are though he has got yellow fever now and won’t give it to anyone like Golem and his precious ring. I say just take a puff on that cigar and chill.
So it leads us to stage four and the cobbles. Man that is going to hurt the injured riders. Looking forward to the data on that one.
